Deadline is reporting that How I Live Now and Skins writer Jack Thorne has been tapped to write the screenplay for David Goyer’s Sandman pitch.
Sandman was launched in 1989 and
revolves around Morpheus, who is the embodiment of dreams. Captured and held
captive for 70 years, he suddenly escapes and seeks revenge against those who
imprisoned him and while trying to rebuild his fallen kingdom.
The character was created by Jack
Kirby and Joe Simon but Gaiman’s re-interpretation of the character was the
most successful to date, even appearing in the New York Times Bestseller list.
Actor and director Joseph
Gordon-Levitt is attached as a producer but is aiming to also direct and star
in the adaptation.
