Saying that The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is a treasure trove of hints and rumors is being conservative at best. Smythe, Shocker, Vulture and Doc. Octopus were some of the villains rumored to either make a cameo or be mentioned in this new movie, in addition to Electro the main villain, played by Jamie Foxx, to Rhino played by Paul Giamatti and finally to Dane DeHaan’s Green Goblin or Hobgoblin, and now two possibly three new names have been somewhat uncovered in a shot of the trailer.
In the screenshot we can see some new things; two
names that sound familiar, one hint at yet another possible villain.
Let’s begin with the two familiar names. The first one
is called Venom Storage, which of course is a mention to the Venom character,
who made his live action debut as Topher Grace in Spider-Man 3, and the second refers
to one Dr. Morbius, aka the Living Vampire, an enemy of Spider-Man and one of
Marvel’s many anti-heroes.
As for the hint, one of the files references a
Research – SCOP 520, and it could be referring to MacDonald Gargan, aka The Scorpion,
who underwent genetic treatments to mutate his DNA to that of a scorpion,
gaining superhuman strength, speed, stamina and uses an armored suit with a
tail attached.
