Actor turned director Dexter Fletcher is going to be the one behind the camera for the long in development Freddie Mercury biopic, which counts with a screenplay by The Queen scribe Peter Morgan. At first Sacha Baron Cohen was attached to play Mercury until he dropped out and was replaced by James Bond’s new Q Ben Whishaw.
Apparently Fletcher has been having meetings with the
band to try and get a feel on how to tell the story, which covers the band’s
early years until their Live Aid performance in 1985, which leaves out Mercury’s
death due to complications from AIDS in 1991.
