It
seems that AMC is looking to fill the hole left by their hit dramas
Breaking Bad and Mad Man, with another comic book adaptation. The
network already has a tv show based on a comic book, The Walking Dead
and now they just ordered a pilot based on Garth Ennis' graphic
novel, Preacher, which tells the story of Texas Reverend Jesse
Custer, who after merging with the offspring of a demon and an angel,
teams up with his ex-girlfriend Tulip O’Hare and an Irish vampire
called Cassidy to find God and make him explain why did he abandoned
creation.
In
related news it seems that actor Seth Rogen may be getting involved
in bringing Preacher to the small screen as a producer.
Rogen
recently went to Twitter and posted the following:
Seth
Rogen@Sethrogen
Looks like about seven of years of hard work are about to pay off. I may get to bring one of my favourite stories ever to life.

The
second tweet isn't Rogen ranting about John Wayne or anything like
it, they are just names of characters in Ennis' novel. Arseface is a
disfigured suicide attempt survivor who turn into a rockstar. John
Wayne is a conscience type figure and Saint of Killers is "a
reformed bounty hunter-turned-killer-once-more in the tradition of
Clint Eastwood’s Unforgiven
character, William Munny”.
Kevin
Smith, Sam Mendes, Darren Aronofsky and DJ Caruso were at some point
willing to take on Preacher and adapt it to the big screen, but
unfortunately none found success and the graphic novel was ultimately
dropped.
