With Phase 1 completed and Phase 2 locked and ready to go, Marvel is getting ready for Phase 3, but aside Edgar Wright’s Ant-Man, not much else is occupying the vacant slots. There were talks of Doctor Strange, Black Panther and Iron Fist, but so far nothing official as come out from Marvel, but it seems that two other properties are back into play.
A couple
of months back the Daredevil and Punisher titles reverted back to Marvel when
the rights held by Fox and Lionsgate, respectively ended and the studios
decided to let go instead of renewing them.
If
Marvel does decide to re-introduce the characters in their cinematic universe,
it would need to be in Phase 3 and in re-boot form, but will they?
Both
The Punisher and Daredevil are polar opposites of the upbeat, colorful, all
ends well movies that Marvel is currently doing. Both titles are darker,
introspective, and in the Punisher case is kill or be killed, not necessarily
Captain America.
In a
recent interview to Bleeding Cool, Marvel Studio President, Kevin Feige
explained that there is a right time for both characters to appear.
“We’re
trying to figure out what to do with Daredevil now. Punisher could show up at
one point. You know, once we get characters back into the Marvel fold we don’t
want to do something right away, we want to do the smart thing at the smart
time.”
