Per HV, Legendary Pictures has tapped famous second unit director and stunt coordinator Simon Crane to helm their take on Mattel’s toy car line.
The
story will revolve around a washed up Illinois State Trooper, who must fight a
dangerous military device that has fallen onto the hands of a dangerous
criminal, whom was once arrested by the Trooper’s father. How this ties in,
with Hot Wheels is anyone’s guess, maybe the roads are bright orange and are
made out of plastic.
Crane’s
previous works as a second unit director were World War Z, Troy and Terminator
3: Rise of the Machines, so he has more than enough experience dealing with big
budget summer blockbuster films.
There
was an initial script written by Art Marcum and Matt Holloway, but it seems
that Legendary wasn’t convinced, so they tapped in writer Paul Attanasio (Quizz
Show) to re-write it.
