Roger
Corman is one of the most prolific men in the movie business, directing 56
movies and producing an astonishing 404, yep 404 movies. The list above show
some of the people that worked for him before they were famous, which means
that Corman has one of the best eyes in the business.
Regardless
of your personal opinion on Corman’s body of work, some of his movies have become
classics, such as The Little Shop of Horrors (Jack Nicholson’s 4th
movie), The Terror (Boris Karloff and Nicholson), Attack of the Crab Monsters,
Pit and the Pendulum, The Raven (starring the holy trinity of Karloff, Price
and Lorre), The Wild Angels (Peter Fonda), The Trip, Grand Theft Auto (Ron Howard
first feature film) and countless others.
Some
time ago actor Colin Firth was set to play Corman in Joe Dante’s (who also
worked with him) biopic about Corman, called The Man With Kaleidoscope Eyes,
but then production stopped and the film sort of fell through the cracks, until
now and apparently Firth is out and Tarantino is in.
Quentin
Tarantino has been tapped to star as Corman in Dante’s biopic, which will be
set during the 1960’s and will be about Corman directing the LSD induced The
Trip, which starred Peter Fonda, Bruce Dern and Dennis Hopper.
In
an interview to The Telegraph, Corman said that “It was very controversial but
it was the only American picture invited to the Cannes Film Festival that
year.” Corman then added that he will be making a cameo in his own biopic, as “the
executive who didn’t want me to make the film.”
What
is your favorite Corman film?
