Director
Lars Von Trier isn’t a stranger to controversy; two years ago at the Cannes
Film Festival he made some problematic comments regarding the Nazis, which made
him persona non grata at the festival, at least until he made an official apologize,
which he did, which he then recanted and said that the apologize was wrong and
forced, but I digress.
According
to some reports Trier wants to show the “hardcore version” of his latest film,
the two parts, 5 hour drama Nymphomaniac at Cannes. Has you can guess the “hardcore
version” means the version that has the graphic depiction of sex, which were
played by porn actors that doubled for the real actors, whom in turn had their
faces digitally added to the porn stunts.
Whether
or not the Cannes Film Festival will accept his “hardcore version” it’s at this
point unclear, but Trier will open the “softcore” version of Nymphomaniac in
Denmark on Christmas Day.
Nymphomaniac
stars Charlotte Gainsbourg, Stellan Skarsgard, Shia LaBouf, Stacy Martin,
Christian Slater, Jamie Bell, Uma Thurman, Willem Dafoe, Connie Nielsen, Udo
Kier and Sophie Kennedy Clark.
