The World’s End At Comic-Con - Panel Recap

At Comic-Con, Edgar Wright, Simon Pegg and Nick Frost presented a panel about their latest film The World’s End. During the presentation they talked about the infamous Cornetto Trilogy, working together after a six year separation, comparisons between the film and Doctor Who, whether the three of them will make another film and then there was a Q&A with the audience.
First things first, “If you’ve ever watched Doctor Who and thought it would be a lot funnier if the Doctor was hammered, this is the movie for you.” said Edgar Wright.

While explaining the film Pegg said his character is the hero and villain of the film; “He’s stuck in 1990 and his friends have all moved on.

Frost said that he and Pegg needed to play someone different in each film, because they didn’t wanted to repeat themselves, and Pegg added that at the time of Shaun Of The Dead both of them were pretty close to the characters in real life.

Wright then began to explain the origin of “Cornetto Trilogy”. He said that in college his cure for a hangover was a cornetto. Then there was a cornetto in Shaun, and because of that there was free ice cream at the premiere. After that they wrote in a cornetto for Hot Fuzz, and so the cornetto trilogy. Frost then joked about their next trilogy, “Aston Martin Trilogy”.

Then the trio began talking about their six year separation and how it was to be back together.
Pegg said that the three films fit into one singular trilogy, because they follow a certain criteria; British and one or two people facing adversities. Wright then added that there’s a theme of long lasting adolescence, which comes with its pros and cons.

Wright then lightened the mood by announcing that he is doing a spinoff Ant-Man with Frost and Pegg, “a buddy comedy with Abdo-Man and The Mighty Thorax.”

Then Pegg and Wright talked about the aliens appearing in the trailers and any possible spoilers.

To start, Pegg said that they didn’t have a choice about whether to show or not the alien in the trailers. He then added that in an ideal scenario, the audiences would go to the theaters not knowing about the movie. Wright then added that there are still a lot of surprises in the film.

The panel then ended and the Q&A begun:
Someone in the audience asked how much improve is there on set? Frost answered by saying that the only improve they do is when writing the script and that on set, ”hardly at all”.

Then someone asked about how Martin Freeman was able to shoot World’s End while still working on The Hobbit in New Zealand? Wright said that Freeman shot for two weeks, went back to New Zealand to do the press release for The Hobbit, then came back the next day to finish.

Then Spaced popped up and;
Wright said that he doesn’t think they will do it.
Pegg is worried about ruining what they already did.

And Frost said “they fucking couldn’t afford me right now”.
