Director Wes Ball is going to adapt James
Dashner’s novel The Maze Runner, which is scheduled to arrive in theaters on
February 14th of next year, despite that some concept art has found
its way to the pages of Entertainment Weekly, and it looks really cool.
Wes Ball’s career is mainly in the art
department and visual effects of the film process, for example Cirque du Freak:
The Vampire’s Assistant – Tour du Freak or Previously on: E.R.
The story centers on a group of teens who
found themselves in an area known as The Glades, but haven no clue how they got
there. With nowhere to escape, they decide to take their chances inside the
maze, where shifting walls and dangerous creatures (Grievers) make their
travel, a dangerous one. But not everything is bleak, as only Thomas (Dylan O’Brien)
holds the secret to their escape.
Here is an animated short, Ruin, which is at
20th Century Fox, receiving a treatment for a feature-length by
Ball.
The Maze Runner (Book) Synopsis:
When Thomas wakes up in the lift, the only
thing he can remember is his first name. His memory is blank. But he’s not
alone. When the lift’s doors open, Thomas finds himself surrounded by kids who
welcome him to the Glade—a large, open expanse surrounded by stone walls. Just
like Thomas, the Gladers don’t know why or how they got to the Glade. All they
know is that every morning the stone doors to the maze that surrounds them have
opened. Every night they’ve closed tight. And every 30 days a new boy has been
delivered in the lift. Thomas was expected. But the next day, a girl is sent
up—the first girl to ever arrive in the Glade. And more surprising yet is the
message she delivers.Thomas might be more important than he could ever guess.
If only he could unlock the dark secrets buried within his mind.
