Star Wars: Episode VII - Costume Designer

Michael Kaplan, the award winning costume designer joins the next J.J. Abrams take on sci-fi royalty. Kaplan recently worked with Abrams on his Star Trek Into Darkness and now has been chosen to create the costumes for the upcoming Star Wars: Episode VII.

In a recent interview Kaplan said that,

“I’ve just learned I’ll be working on the new Star Wars movie, again with J.J. Everything just got formalized (last week), I haven’t even had the chance to talk to anyone about it all other than to be told ‘welcome aboard.’

It’s a little too soon to know exactly what’s in store but I’m excited, absolutely, to get to work on another prestigious sci-fi series.”

Kaplan earned his name by working on such films as Blade Runner, Se7en, The Game, Armageddon, Fight Club, Pearl Harbor, Panic Room, Mr. & Mrs. Smith, I Am Legend, Star Trek, Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol, Star Trek Into Darkness.

One of his first works as a costume designer was on Ridley Scott’s sci-fi classic Blade Runner, for which he won the BAFTA for best costume design.
