SYFY renewed and new shows

Being Human
Being Human USA has been renewed for a fourth season, consisting of 13 episodes. Mark Stern, the president of original content from SYFY said that Being Human really hit its stride creatively this year,” and “This show has become a signature series for SYFY and we are thrilled to have it return in 2014.”

No Place
Based on the Top Cow comic book The Test, which has Rober Zemeckis Has one of its executive producers and John Brancato and Michael Ferris as writers, No Place is set in a hi-tech closed community that suddenly finds themselves cut off from the rest that lives outside the community walls and only one man has contact with the powers responsible for the event known as The Rift, and so he must lead his fellow citizens of the community into the void to discover the truth. Mark Stern said that “We are very excited to be in business with this amazing A-list team,” and “We look forward to them bringing their high-quality feature-level sensibility to this taut sci-fi drama.”

High Moon
From the creator of Pushing Daisies, Bryan Fuller here comes the adaptation of Lotus Caves by John Christopher. The story centers around the discovery of life on the mines of Earth’s Moon. “Chaos erupts in a genuinely emotional, humorously thrilling and always unexpected fashion as the people of the Moon race to uncover this life form’s powerful secrets,” says the press release. Stern adds: “In the hands of visionary Bryan Fuller and this outstanding production team,High Moon will be an imaginative, groundbreaking story featuring complex characters in a high-stakes drama. This represents our commitment to quality programming that redefines the genre and we’re excited to begin production.”

Helix
Ron Moore, the man behind Battlestar Galactica has come up with a new show, Helix, which centers around a team of scientists that are investigating a possible disease outbreak in an Artic research lab, that can bring society to its knees.

Ringworld / Childhood’s End
Two book adaptations are also on track to be turn into a mini-series, one by Larry Niven, called Ringworld and the other is Childhood’s End by Arthur C. Clarke.

Dominion
Director Scott Stewart (Defiance) and writer Vaun Wilmott (Sons of Anarchy) are bringing to the small screen Dominion which is a tv version of the movie Legion.

Orion
It’s a mashup of Tomb Raider and Star Wars. The story follows a female archeologist (sort off) around a galaxy that is at war between Humans and an alien race. The female protagonist not only is trying to find relics but is also trying to piece together her past.

Sojourn
The story follows the first space detective, who has to investigate a murder in a spaceship that is heading to a planet that was selected to be colonized. While investigating the murder he gets caught in a conspiracy which involves a terrible crime that happened 50 years ago when the spaceship was first launched.

Clandestine
A clan of bandits takes refuge in a derelict starship after almost being destroyed by coalition forces. Onboard the derelict ship that belongs to the coalition forces, they masquerade themselves has the men that almost destroy them and continue their criminal ways, only to find out about the shocking nature of the coalition. The show executive producers are Gale Anne Hurd (Walking Dead) and John Shiban (Hell On Wheels) and the writers are Todd Stashwick and Dennis Calero.

Infinity
The government of Earth requests the assistance of a young billionaire, after and alien armada is spotted near Pluto. Been the only one with a ship capable of interstellar travel, the young billionaire sets off to meet the aliens and avoid a possible catastrophe. Powered by a very well-kept secret alien technology discovered on Earth in 1960’s, the ship engages the aliens in combat, which sends them spinning off control through a wormhole. Now lost in an uncharted region of space, the crew must fight to survive and try to find a way back home, as they encounter new planets and species. The show is written by Javier Grillo-Marxuach (The Middleman). Now I don’t want to upset any fans, but isn’t this closely similar to Stargate Universe.

Silver Shields
The father of Caymer, a farm boy is killed by assassins that are somehow connected to the government of the large city of Pont Royal. To solve the mystery of his father’s death and to continue with his legacy as a member of the local police force, Cayman journeys to the big city, only to find that his simple views on life don’t match with the city that is filled with orcs and other magical creatures. The show’s executive producer and writer is Robert Hewitt Wolfe from Alphas and Andromeda.

Shelter
When a meteorite capable of destroying Human civilization is found heading towards Earth, 30,000 hand-picked Humans are forced to go underground in order to start a new society. But has always organize society eventually succumbs as certain member start creating alliances in order to gain power. While the underground society fights for survival, things on the surface are not what they appear to be. The executive producer and writer for the show is Bruce Joel Rubin from Deep Impact (see any connections)
