Snake is back.
A week ago we posted that Joel Silver was interested in remaking Escape From New York. Now it's official Joel Silver teamed up with Studio Canal in a bid to remake the 1981 cult classic Escape From New York, from director John Carpenter, but as a triology???
Supposedly the triology is going to start with an origin story for the one-eyed, bank robber, badass anti-hero known as Snake Plissken. But more news... Studio Canal and Joel Silver want to cast either Tom Hardy (Bane from Dark Knight Rises) or Jason Statham (The Expendables) to play the main character, Snake, according to a source close to the production:
"Studio Canal wants to make sure they get one of the two men before the summer."
The original story is that in the future crime is up 400%. The president of the USA turns Manhattan into a gigantic prison (which is more like a lawless area) in order to control it. But when he crashes is plane in it, a convict is sent in to the rescue.
