Celebrated English horror writer James Herbert passed away yesterday 20 of March 2013 at the age of 69. He rose to fame in the 1970's with his two books The Rats and The Fog (unrelated to the 1980 film of the same name by John Carpenter). He wrote 24 horror novels which sold 50 million copies worldwide, the latest book was released in 2012 titled Ash. He also wrote one graphic novel, two non-fictional books and six short stories. From his books, four were adapted to the big screen, one three part serial for BBC, one dramatization on the BBC Radio 4 and one video game for the Commodore 64 and Sinclair Spectrum.
In 2010 e received an OBE (Order of the British Empire) given to him by Prince Charles and a Grand Masters of Horror Award.
