The Walt Disney Company and Lucasfilm have today
announced that the last installment in the new Star Wars trilogy, the yet
untitled Episode IX will hit theaters on May 24, 2019.
The same month currently includes the yet untitled
fourth Avengers film, as well as a Minecraft movie, Uglydolls, and an untitled
Doctor Dolittle project.
Colin Trevorrow ("Jurassic World") will
direct Star Wars: Episode IX from a screenplay
he wrote alongside Derek Connolly ("Safety Not Guaranteed") based on
a story treatment written by Rian Johnson.
Johnson's highly anticipated Star Wars: The Last Jedi hits
theaters this coming December, while Phil Lord and Chris Miller's Star Wars
anthology movie centered on a young Han Solo opens in theaters on May 25, 2018.
