Yesterday, Woody
Harrelson was officially added to the still growing cast of the yet untitled Star
Wars spinoff film centered on a young rascal by the name of Han Solo.
Harrelson's casting
announcement came with a statement from the film's directors Christopher Miller
and Phil Lord, whom praised the actor's sensibilities to find both the humor
and drama in any given role, however, the press release didn't revealed whom
Harrelson will play.
Speaking to Mashable
about Lost in London, a comedy/drama he directed, wrote, and stars in opposite
Owen Wilson and musician Willie Nelson as themselves, the actor confirmed he
will be playing the mentor to a young Han Solo.
"I'm a mentor to
Han, but I'm also a bit of a criminal," he said. "I don't think I
should say much more than that, because the Force is not allowing me."
Harrelson's statement
corroborates a story first published in early January of this year when the
actor was still in negotiations.
Starring Alden Ehrenreich as Han Solo, Donald Glover as Lando Calrissian, and Emilia Clarke
in a yet undisclosed role, the untitled spinoff opens in theaters on May 25,
2018.
