Sky Arts has released
the first trailer for Urban Myths, a bizarre new eight-episode comedy about
celebrity tall tales starring a who's who of acting stars playing a who's who
of known popular figures.
The 30-minute episodes
include Samuel Beckett driving Andre the Giant to school; Adolf Hitler getting
rejected from art school; a post 9/11 road trip with Michael Jackson, Elizabeth
Taylor, and Marlon Brando; or Salvador Dali chatting with Alice Cooper.
The series came under
fire last year for whitewashing after casting Joseph Fiennes as Michael
Jackson. Though she doesn't appear in the trailer, Carrie Fisher also appears
in the Jackson episode.
Urban Myths premieres
in the U.K. on January 19.
Our Urban Myths are
stories that have been passed down over time and have now become part of urban
folklore. But are they true? We take a slightly tongue in cheek, mischievous –
and deliberately ambiguous – look at what might have happened…
