CBS has order a pilot
for Mission Control, a NASA-themed drama from The Martian author Andy Weir.
Written by Weir,
Mission Control centers on the next batch of NASA astronauts and scientists whom
have to balance their professional and personal lives during a critical
mission.
Simon Kinberg, who is
also a producer on The Martian, and veteran showrunner Charles Eglee will
executive produce the drama along with Weir.
Weir's The Martian
was adapted into an award-winning feature film by Ridley Scott in 2015 starring
Matt Damon, Jessica Chastain, Jeff Daniels, Kristen Wiig, Michael Peña, Sean
Bean, Kate Mara, Aksel Hennie, Sebastian Stan, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Donald Glover,
Mackenzie Davies, and Benedict Wong.
