Yesterday director James
Mangold unveiled the first poster and titled for Logan, the third installment
in the Wolverine franchise, and Hugh Jackman's final performance as the iconic
character in a solo film.
Today, the filmmaker took to
Twitter yet again to share our first look at Patrick Stewart, who is reprising
his role as X-Men leader/founder Professor Charles Xavier.
In the picture, Stewart looks much
older and somewhat frail, which seem to corroborate the rumors that surfaced
yesterday. According to them, the film takes place in the future (2024 to be
precise), and sees Xavier's once powerful mind starting to fail him to the
point that he sometimes doesn't even recognize Wolverine, who alongside the
mutant Caliban, is now taking care of the old mentor.

Furthermore, the rumors also
state that mutant births are down across the world, and while Wolverine and
Caliban take care of Xavier, a corporation called Transigen is turning young
mutant children into killing machines. Wolverine comes across one of these
children (hand in the poster), who has a couple of Wolverine-like claws
protruding from her hands, and vows to take care of her.
Opening in theaters on March 3, 2017, Logan also stars Elizabeth Rodriguez,
Stephen Merchant, Doris Delgado, Eriq La Salle, Boyd Holbrook, and Richard E.
Grant.
