Super talented
cinematographer Bradford Young has joined Chris Miller and Phil Lord's yet
untitled Star Wars spinoff film centered on a young Han Solo and his hairy best
friend and partner Chewbacca.
With a film career
spanning just over a decade, Young, who turns 40 next year in July, started in
the film industry working on shorts films and documentaries before jumping into
Indies, which he still does. After getting the proverbial eye and aesthetic, the
cinematographer moved on to more mainstream projects such as David Lowery's
Ain't Them Bodies Saints, Ava DuVernay's Selma, and J.C. Chandor's outstanding thriller
A Most Violent Year.
Most recently, when Sicario
filmmaker Denis Villeneuve couldn’t get the icon Roger Deakins to work on his upcoming
sci-fi drama Arrival, the director turned to Young, and if that's not a vote of
confidence then nothing is.
Starring Hail Caesar!'s
breakout star Alden Ehrenreich as Han Solo, Miller and Lord's yet untitled Star
Wars spinoff film lands in theaters on May 25, 2018.
