Johnny Depp is in talks to star in Kenneth
Branagh's upcoming big screen remake of Agatha Christie's popular yet worn-out mystery
novel Murder On The Orient Express.
Depp's negotiations come following
Angelina Jolie's departure from the project, and Daisy Ridley, Michael Peña, Michelle
Pfeiffer, and Judi Dench's arrival.
Branagh is set to play the iconic sleuth,
Hercule Poirot, from a script by Blade Runner 2 scribe Michael Green.
Peter
Ustinov, Albert Finney, Alfred Molina, and more importantly, David Suchet, have all
played the role in previous adaptations of the same material.
Ridley Scott, Simon Kinberg, and Mark
Gordon are producing with James Prichard, the author’s great-grandson and
chairman of Agatha Christie Ltd., and Hilary Strong, CEO at Agatha Christie
Ltd., executive producing.
