Zoe Kravitz has joined Fantastic Beasts and Where to
Find Them, the Harry Potter spinoff prequel written by author J.K. Rowling, and
directed by David Yates, who helmed the last four Harry Potter films.
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them opens in 1926 as Newt Scamander (Oscar-winner
Eddie Redmayne) has just completed a global excursion to find and document an
extraordinary array of magical creatures. Arriving in New York for a
brief stopover, he might have come and gone without incident…were it not for a
No-Maj (American for Muggle) named Jacob, a misplaced magical case, and the
escape of some of Newt’s fantastic beasts, which could spell trouble for both
the wizarding and No-Maj worlds.
Details on her character are being kept under wraps, but sources close to the project say it is a small role that could
get meatier in the upcoming sequel, which has been scheduled to open
in theaters on November 16, 2018.
Kravitz's credits include Californication, The Divergent Series franchise, Mad Max: Fury Road, Dope, and X-Men:
First Class.
Opening in theaters on November 18,
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them also stars Katherine Waterston, Alison
Sudol, Dan Fogler, Collin Farrell, Samantha Morton, Ezra Miller, Jenn Murray,
Faith Wood-Blagrove, Jon Voight, and Ron Perlman.
