Ron Perlman, Anton
Yelchin and Kelsey Grammer have joined the voice cast of Trollhunters, Guillermo
del Toro's upcoming animated fantasy series he is producing with DreamWorks
Animation for Netflix.
Based on a young-adult book written by the visionary filmmaker and Daniel
Kraus, the family friendly animated adventure series follows the residents of the fictional suburb of Arcadia who make the
startling discovery that beneath their hometown is as vast and mind-blowing
world populated entirely by Trolls.
Yelchin will play Jim, an unremarkable teenage boy who
after discovering a mystical amulet sees himself inadvertently dragged into a war
fought in secret between good and bad Trolls. Grammer will play Blinky, a
kind-hearted Troll, while Perlman will voice the sinister Bular, a Troll who is
targeting Jim and his friends.
Guillermo del Toro’s work as a director, screenwriter,
filmmaker, producer and author is incredibly extensive and varied, ranging from
novels to comic books and television to imaginative feature films. Throughout
his career, he has consistently had a strong connection and lifelong
fascination with fantastical creatures and in DreamWorks Trollhunters he has created vast and vibrant worlds with complex
human and troll characters that create a cinematic television experience.
Trollhunters will premiere this December.
