Maisie Richardson-Sellers ("The Originals")
is joining the cast of DC's Legends of Tomorrow. The relative newcomer will
play Amaya Jiwe, Mari
McCabe's (Megalyn Echikunwoke) grandmother and the new or old superhero known
as Vixen (depending on how you see it).
"Amaya Jiwe – better known as Vixen – is the
newest superhero to board the Waverider and join the ranks of the Legends of Tomorrow. Like her granddaughter, Mari McCabe,
Amaya’s powers are derived from the mysterious Tantu Totem, which allows her to
magically access the abilities of animals."
Richardson-Sellers' credits also include a role on the
ABC series Of Kings and Prophets and a bit part on J.J. Abrams' Star Wars: The
Force Awakens. Her full role on The Force Awakens was substantially cut from
the theatrical release of the film.
Jiwe will be one of several new series regulars, which
so far also include Nick Zano ("Minority Report" TV series) as Dr.
Nate Heywood, a.k.a. Citizen Steel.
Echikunwoke meanwhile will continue to voice Mari on
the Vixen animated series on The CW Seed.
