Hostel and Green
Inferno director Eli Roth has reached a deal with MGM and Paramount to direct
the long gestating remake of Death Wish with Bruce Willis attached to star.
Roth comes in
replacement of Israeli filmmakers Navot Papushado and Aharon Keshales whom had
signed on to helm the project after the exit of director Joe Carnahan in 2012.
Death
Wish is a violent film franchise from the 70's starring Charles Bronson as Paul
Kersey, a mild-mannered architect who decides to pick up a gun and
"clean" the streets of the thugs who raped and murdered his wife and
daughter. The movie itself was based on a 1972 novel written by Brian Garfield.
Larry Karazewski ("Man
on the Moon") and his writing partner Scott Alexander ("Ed Wood")
wrote the current version of the script.
