J.J. Abrams' Star Wars: The
Force Awakens was a box of mysteries until its premiere December of last year
and for Rian Johnson's follow-up Episode VIII, Lucasfilm is expected to follow a
similar plan, however Oscar Isaac was this week's cover story of Rolling Stone
and he offered a couple of tidbits of new information regarding the highly anticipated
project.
First, the actor revealed that
he has "a lot more to do" this time around, so do not expect Poe
Dameron to be in-and-out like he was in The Force Awakens, where he appeared at the very beginning of the movie only to return in its conclusion.
The actor also teased that his
character, Rey (Daisy Ridley), and Finn (John Boyega) will have trials and
tribulations ahead of them that will test their resolve in bringing order back
to the galaxy far, far away.
"What
happens now is the heroes get tested. All three of them," Isaac said to the outlet. "[They]
get tested immensely," as will BB-8, "everybody gets tested! It's the
dark second chapter, but not really dark."
Still
in production, the yet untitled Star Wars: Episode VIII opens in theaters on
December 15, 2017 with Gwendoline Christie, Domhnall Gleeson, Adam Driver,
Lupita Nyong'o, Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Benicio del Toro, Andy Serkis,
Laura Dern, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew, and Kelly Marie Tran also starring.
