Former Spider-Man Andrew Garfield has signed on to
star in Under the Silver Lake, a noir crime thriller set in present day Los
Angeles from It Follows writer/director David Robert Mitchell.
Under the Silver Lake is expected to go into
production by the end of this summer.
Mitchell's directorial debut The Myth of the American
Sleepover premiered at the SXSW Film Festival in 2010 and won the special jury
prize, which the talented filmmaker followed with the critically praised indie
horror It Follows starring Maika Monroe, who we will be seeing in Roland
Emmerich's Independence Day: Resurgence.
As for Garfield, the actor followed his superhero
antics with a leading role in Ramin Bahrani's ("Man Push Cart")
praised drama 99 Homes where he starred opposite Michael Shannon and Laura
Dern. The BAFTA winning actor will next be seen in Mel Gibson's Hacksaw Ridge,
and Martin Scorsese's Silence.
