Vikings star Katheryn Winnick has signed on to star in The Dark Tower, the upcoming and
long awaited big screen adaptation of Stephen King's seminal book series of the
same name. No word on who Winnick is playing at this time.
Directed by Nikolaj Arcel ("A
Royal Affair"), The Dark Tower follows Roland Deschain, a.k.a. The Gunslinger (Idris
Elba), a haunting and solitary figure, who is on a mysterious quest to
find the Dark Tower and save the desolate land of Mid-World, all while
fighting his nemesis the Man in Black played by Matthew McConaughey.
Also starring Jackie Earle Haley as a menacing vampire
leader called Sayre, Abby Lee as Tirana, a sexy and dangerous woman with fake
human skin and cold snake-like eyes, and Fran Kranz as Pimli, the Man in
Black's right-hand man, and newcomer Tom Taylor as Roland's son Jake Chambers, The
Dark Tower opens in theaters on January 13, 2017.
