With Ridley Scott's Alien: Covenant
taking precedence over Neil Blomkamp's "spiritual" successor to
Aliens in 20th Century Fox's release schedule, the South African filmmaker has gained
more time to refine the script and hopefully prepare a reasonable scenario
explaining the aliveness of Corporal Hicks and Rebecca "Newt" Jordan,
because just saying…
"I want this film to feel like it is literally the genetic sibling of Aliens, so it’s Alien, Aliens and then this
film."
…doesn't automatically erase Alien 3
and Alien: Resurrection from the canon and from the hearts of fans.
But moving on to what brought you
here. Blomkamp has shared a new piece of concept art from his yet untitled
Alien movie, this time featuring a twenty-something-year-old Newt.
Starring (for now) Sigourney Weaver
and Michael Biehn, Blomkamp's Alien is currently on hold awaiting the release
of Ridley Scott's Alien: Covenant.
