The first trailer for
directors Tom Tykwer and Ahmed Al-Ibrahim's adaptation of Dave Eggers' 2012
National Book Award finalist novel A Hologram for the King has landed online.
In the movie, Tom
Hanks plays Alan Clay, a failed American businessman who in attempt to recoup
from his losses travels to Saudi Arabia to try and sell his big idea to the
King. Culture clash ensues but Clay finds his footing with the help of a
wise-cracking taxi driver played by Alexander Black and a beautiful Saudi
doctor played by Sarita Choudhury.
Opening in theaters
on April 22, A Hologram for the King also stars Ben Whishaw, and Tom Skerritt.
Cultures collide when
an American businessman (Tom Hanks) is sent to Saudi Arabia to close what he
hopes will be the deal of a lifetime. Baffled by local customs and stymied by
an opaque bureaucracy, he eventually finds his footing with the help of a
wise-cracking taxi driver (Alexander Black) and a beautiful Saudi doctor
(Sarita Choudhury).
