Academy Award winning actress Octavia Spencer is in
negotiations to star in Guillermo del Toro's yet untitled supernatural drama
set against the backdrop of Cold War-era America.
The Oscar nominated filmmaker is writing, producing,
and directing the project for Fox Searchlight, and is expecting to begin
production this summer.
Details are unsurprisingly being kept a secret,
however the project has been described as a "mysterious and
magical journey set against the backdrop of Cold War-era America circa 1963
with an otherworldly love story at the center of it."
From
the sound of it, this yet untitled project could be a return to the director's
Pan's Labyrinth days where uses a recognizable time and place in which to set a
fantasy, but that is just my reading of it.
