X-Men: First Class and
Twilight actor Edi Gathegi will be reprising his role from NBC's popular
mystery drama series The Blacklist in the proposed spinoff. The actor has been
a recurring presence on the show as Matias Solomon, a Cabal operative tasked to
hunt down Reddington (James Spader) for this past season, a role he will
continue in the yet untitled spinoff.
Gathegi will be a
series regular on the new show, where he will star opposite Ryan Eggold who will
also be reprising his role as Tom Keen.
Famke Janssen on the
other hand, will make her first appearance on the main show in the upcoming May
5 episode, and she will play Susan "Scottie" Halsted. The character
was created to be to Tom (Eggold) what Red (Spader) is to Liz (Megan Boone).
Details on where the
spinoff will go are nonexistent at this point, but the show's creator/executive
producer Jon Bokenkamp and exec producer/showrunner John Eisendrath will plant
the seed for it on the 322 episode of the series, which will air on May 12, a
week after Janssen's debut on the show.
