Gale Anne Hurd, the executive
producer behind AMC's The Walking Dead, is teaming up with Spike TV to bring
Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child's best-selling novel series Relic and Cabinet
of Curiosity to the small screen.
Set in contemporary
New York City, the show will follow a special FBI agent named Pendergast as he
investigates a present-day crime that shares similarities to a century-old
mystery, and which is linked to his own family dark past.
Hurd will executive
produce the show under her Valhalla Entertainment banner, alongside Black Sawn
screenwriter John McLaughlin who will also write the script.
Pendergast is another
clear sign of Spike TV's intent on expanding their scripted portfolio. After
the miniseries Tut starring Ben Kingsley, the cable network has added a number
of other projects to their slate, and they include Red Mars, the adaptation of
Kim Stanley Robinson's Mars Trilogy, When the Levee Breaks, Emergency
Broadcast, The Chairman, and the Pierce Brosnan-produced The Crusaders.
