Golden Globe and BAFTA nominee actress Zhang Ziyi is
set to produce and star in a "cross-cultural comedy" titled East/West
for Universal Pictures.
Jason Winer, whose credits include episodes of Modern
Family, for which he won a Directors Guild of America Award, The Crazy Ones,
and the remake of Arthur, will direct and co-produce the project alongside Ziyi,
and Tory Metzger and David Linde.
Actors/writers Ethan Sandler and Adrian Wenner will be
writing the script for East/West. Plot details are being kept a secret.
As an actor Sandler has appeared in The Bourne
Supremacy, Meet the Robinsons, Crossing Jordan, and Transparent, while Wenner
as credits on Becker, and Scrubs. Both wrote for My Boys, and We
Hate Paul Revere.
Zhang Ziyi credits include Crouching Tiger, Hidden
Dragon, Rush Hour 2, House of Flying Daggers, 2046, and Memoirs of a Geisha.
