Gal Gadot's Amazonian princess looks very spry for her age.
We knew that Wonder Woman would be older than Superman and Batman the moment
Warner Bros. officially confirmed that her standalone movie would be set in
World War I, but 5,000 years? Furthermore, when we meet her in Batman v Superman:
Dawn of Justice, she has retired from being superhero for yet unknown reasons.
Well, one could be that "because she’s seen it all, she has seen what
humans can do, so it was very hard for her to come back and fight," Gadot revealed.
The actress also offered some insight into the differences between Diana
Prince and her alter ego Wonder Woman.
"They have
the same attitude. Although when she is Diana she tries to blend in, she is not
too outgoing. I don’t want people to think she is perfect. She can be
naughty."
Wonder Woman is one of DC Comics' most important characters as well as an
important icon of female power, so it will be interesting to see when and how
that will come into play not only in Batman v Superman, but also in her solo
outing.
"Her sexuality
is part of her power, but she is also a feminist icon," executive producer
Deborah Snyder said. "Gender has been a hot topic, so it is very timely to
bring her back. The way we have approached it, especially in the standalone
movie, that is definitely there. Looking back and doing an origin story – and
it is a period piece – see the role of women through history. There is a great
source of humour in that now. It is so unbelievable you can’t even fathom it.
You are still making a statement, but having some fun with it."
