The original movie came out in 1986 and starred a sixteen-years-old Jennifer Connelly as Sarah, a teenager who after selfishly wishing her baby brother to go way, has to navigate a fantastical maze in order to save him from the Jareth the Goblin King, played by David Bowie.

Bowie passed away not too long ago, and the announcement just makes TriStar and the Jim Henson Co. look like greedy and heartless studios that will stop at nothing to make a quick buck.
