Netflix Casts Violet And Klaus Roles In Series Of Unfortunate Events

The pieces are starting to fall into place for Netflix's upcoming show based on Daniel Handler's (aka Lemony Snicket) series of best-selling children's books, A Series of Unfortunate Events.

With negotiations well underway with Neil Patrick Harris to star as the villainous Count Olaf, Netflix has now announced that they have cast the Violet and Klaus characters.

Malina Weissman, who plays young Kara Zor-El on CBS' Supergirl has been cast as the confident and smart Violet, and newcomer Louis Hynes will play her brother, the equally smart and book loving Klaus.

Barry Sonnenfeld is onboard to bring Handler's story to the small screen. Sonnenfeld will direct, and executive produce the 13-episode series.

The story follows the lives of three orphan siblings, Violet, Klaus, and Sunny Baudelaire, whom are put in the custody of their evil uncle Count Olaf, whose only goal is to acquire the children's inheritance by any means necessary.

In the 2004 movie, Emily Browning and Liam Aiken played Violet and Klaus, respectively, while Jim Carrey played Count Olaf.
