Take it with a Death Star-size grain of salt, but it is possible that everyone's
favorite Grand Admiral could appear in the upcoming third season of Star Wars
Rebels.
According to Making Star Wars'
sources, Timothy Zahn's literary creation Grand Admiral Thrawn has taken a
shuttle to Star Wars Rebels where he will be "the tactical genius of
capital starship warfare he was to Expanded Universe readers in the ’90s.
However, this time he will be using his evil brand of genius against the the
heroes of the starship Ghost."
Furthermore, they also say that Season 3 will see a shorthaired Ezra wielding
a brand new lightsaber similar to the one Obi Wan or Luke (second saber) used,
which indicates that the show will move ahead in the timeline and get closer to
the events of A New Hope.
The Grand Admiral's first appearance was in Zahn's Thrawn trilogy,
published between 1991 and 1993, Heir to the Empire, Dark Force Rising, and The
Last Command, and as such, he is part of what is called Expanded Universe, now Legends,
and not of what Disney and Lucasfilm consider as official Star Wars Canon.
Again this is just a rumor, but what a rumor!
The third season of Star Wars Rebels will premiere in 2016.
