Visionary director Guillermo del Toro is apparently a
lock to develop and possibly direct the adaptation of Scary Stories To Tell In
The Dark for CBS Films.
Based on the popular series of books written by Alvin
Schwartz and illustrated by Stephen Gamell, titled Scary Stories to Tell in The
Dark, More Scary Stories to Tell in The Dark, and More Tales to Chill Your
Bones, the trilogy of books is a collection of short horror and spooky stories
for kids that include ghosts and urban legends.
Deadline has the exclusive and they add that while del
Toro is definitely developing and producing the project he could also end up
directing pending his other projects, which include the remake of Fantastic
Voyage, the Pacific Rim sequel, which according to him is still going, and a
personal project that he is keeping a secret.
However, del Toro is a massive fan of the books, owning
ten original illustrations by Gammell, so chances are that he may reschedule
some of his other projects to fit in this one.
