A month or so ago,
Variety reported that five time Oscar nominated and two time winner Cate Blanchett
was in talks to take on a leading role in Marvel's Thor: Ragnarok.
This past weekend,
while attending the Palm Springs International Film Festival Gala, Blanchett
was asked about the news of her possible casting in the third Thor movie.
"I would love that," the actress told USA
Today. "I'd love to get fit and punch people," she joked. However,
the actress also pointed out that she doesn't know what she will do next, if
anything. "I don’t know what I’m going to do, actually," she
said backstage. "After every film, you think: 'OK, I’m done, I’m done
now, that’s enough.'"
Thor: Ragnarok is
currently in pre-production in Australia, and filming is set to begin sometime
in June, which may prove a bonus if the actress is indeed in talks to join the
movie, since (a) production will be happening in her native country, and (b)
between now and June there is plenty of time for the actress to recharge her
batteries.
Directed by Taika
Waititi (What We Do In The Shadows) from a script by Christopher Yost, Craig
Kyle, and Stephany Folsom, Thor: Ragnarok stars Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo,
and Tom Hiddleston.
Thor: Ragnarok
premieres on November 3, 2017.
