It
looks like Thor star Chris Hemsworth may have found his next big project. It
seems that the actor is looking at script based on H. Rider Haggard's creation Allan
Quatermain, penned by newcomer Barnett Brettler and being setup over at Sony
Pictures as a possible franchise.
Having
appeared in dozens of books, a few comics and its fair share of movies starring
the likes of Richard Chamberlain and Patrick Swayze, Allan Quatermain is a very
familiar character that Haggard created back in 1885 and who first appeared in
the King Solomon's Mines novel.
If
you don't know who the character is, Quatermain is a big game hunter, a great
shot, and knows South Africa like the back of his hand, which is why he is often
sees himself in inhospitable places in search of treasures.
Allan
Quatermain was one of the inspirations behind Indiana Jones.
Hemsworth
has the charisma and name to carry a franchise on his shoulders, so it is
probably why he is Sony's prime candidate to take the would-be franchise off
the ground.
