Hell on Wheels actress Sara Canning has boarded Matt
Reeves' upcoming ape sequel, War of the Planet of the Apes, where she will play
a new ape character. Further details about the role are being kept a secret.
Picking up right after the events of Dawn of the
Planet of the Apes, War will see the return of Andy Serkis as the simian
leader, Caesar, who is joined by newcomers to the franchise, Gabriel Chavarria,
Woody Harrelson, Steve Zahn, and Aleks Paunovich.
Among her TV and film roles, which include The Vampire
Diaries, Primeval: New World, and Eadweard, Canning also lent her body to the
performance capture process in Barbie and the Three Musketeers.
Currently in production, War of the Planet of the Apes
is scheduled to hit theaters on July 14, 017.
