After successfully
stepping into at the last minute to replace Edgar Wright on Marvel's Ant-Man,
director Peyton Reed is now reportedly in talks with the studio to continue to
work with the characters and stars in the already announced sequel, Ant-Man and
the Wasp.
Bringing Reed back
would be great for the franchise given the quality of the first movie, however
the major problem now it seems to me is in finding a screenwriter(s), because let's
not forget that Paul Rudd and Adam McKay only polished and reinforced what Wright
and his good friend Joe Cornish had originally written, and I don't think they
are keen in reteaming with Marvel anytime soon, I'm assuming.
Ant-Man took its time
to hit those Marvel box office numbers that we are accustomed to, however
slowly but surely, it got there. At the time of me writing this, Marvel's
Ant-Man has grossed over $454 million worldwide.
Ant-Man and the Wasp
hits theaters on July 6, 2018.
