Now that the Avengers
know of the existence of the Infinity Stones, the power they hold, and that
someone has been pulling the strings behind the scenes, Marvel no longer has
the luxury of slowly burning the main storyline in the franchise, the fully appearance
of the Mad Titan Thanos, and his plans to destroy the universe (comic version).
So far, four of the
six Stones have come into play in one form or another. The Tesseract (Space) was
first introduced in the MCU via Captain America: The First Avenger, Loki's
staff (Mind) in The Avengers, the Aether (Reality) in Thor: The Dark World, and
finally the Orb (Power) in Guardians of the Galaxy. As for the two remaining two,
the Soul and Time Stones, Kevin Feige teases that we will see them soon.
"You will see the other two sometime in Phase 3,
for sure; there's a gauntlet that needs to be filled!" Feige said while
attending the press conference for the release of Avengers: Age of Ultron on
DVD and Blu-ray.
And speaking of a Gauntlet that needs to be filled
with all six Stones, it seems that the one we saw Thanos use in the mid-credit
scene from Avengers: Age of Ultron may not be the real one. "It is not the
same one," said Feige when asked if the Gauntlet seen was the same has the
one safely locked away in Odin's Trophy Room, while producer Jeremy Latcham
chimed in and asked an intriguing question. "Which one do you think is the real
one?"
There are plenty of movies between now and when the
first Infinity War movie lands in theaters so it's impossible to say when the remaining
two stones will appear, but we can guess.
Personally I don't think it will be in Captain
America: Civil War, Black Panther, Inhumans, or the yet untitled Sony/Marvel
Spider-Man standalone, which leaves Doctor Strange, Guardians of the Galaxy 2,
Captain Marvel, and Thor: Ragnarok as possible contenders.
In which movie(s) do you think the Soul and Time
stones will appear?
