A lot of has been made of Ben Affleck possibly stepping
in to helm a Batman standalone movie for Warner Bros., but this past San Diego
Comic-Con, where many assumed that the announcement would be made, nothing, not
a peep. Now, while speaking to Total Film, the multiple Award Winning
screenwriter and director confirmed that he would consider directing a Batman
movie depending on the script.
"If I could make it work, yeah. Obviously that
would be like a dream. The trick is, as to any movie, is to make sure that you
– if you’re going to direct it – that you can make it good. You’ve got to have
the right idea and the right take on it… Broadly speaking, it’s something I’d
be open to, for sure. It’s a very exciting idea."
Of course, this is not a confirmation, but it sounds
like the actor is definitely open to the idea, however, there might be a
problem by the name of Live by Night. The period crime drama was initially
going to be Affleck's next directorial gig after Argo, but then Gone Girl and
Batman v Superman showed up and it was pushed, but now that Warner finally
greenlit the project, Affleck could end up choosing this one, which seems more
near and dear to his heart than Batman.
