French actor
Vincent Cassel is set to play one of the antagonists in the next installment of the
Jason Bourne franchise opposite returning cast members Matt Damon and Julia Stiles, and recent additions Tommy Lee Jones, and
Alicia Vikander.
Paul
Greengrass returns to direct and write script alongside Christopher Rouse. According
to Variety, Cassel will play an assassin tasked with tracking and killing Bourne.
Viggo Mortensen was previously reported to be in talks to play a villain, but it
is unclear if his and Cassel's character are the same.
In a recent
interview, Matt Damon revealed that the Bourne movie will see the
character in "an austerity-riddled Europe and in a post-Snowden world."
Production is expected to start later this
Summer for a July 29, 2016 release date.
