Skilled in martial arts, and with a grip that can squeeze
the life out of her enemies, Mercedes Knight, aka Misty Knight, will make her
live-action debut on Marvel's third Netflix series, Luke Cage.
According to ComicBook.com and Deadline, Ray Donovan
actress Simone Missick has been cast as Knight, who will first be introduced in
her pre-superhero version, a "New York City police detective, who
reluctantly partners up with Luke Cage (Mike Colter)."
In the comics, Misty
Knight is a highly decorated New York City police officer, whose life takes a dramatic
turn after losing her right arm in a terrorist bomb attack. Her act didn't go
ignored and Tony Stark offers the hero a bionic arm made of vibranium. Confronted
with a desk job Misty resigns from the police, and with her best friend Colleen
Wing opens a private investigation firm called Nightwing Restorations, where
she eventually comes across Heroes for Hire and its members Luke Cage and Iron
Fist's, who becomes the love of her life.
Besides Mike Colter
as the titular hero, Luke Cage also stars Alfre Woodard as Minetta, Rosario
Dawson as Claire Temple, and Theo Rossi as Shades.
Luke Cage is
currently in production for a possible 2016 premiere.
