ABC has released the plot synopsis for the second of
episode of Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. third season, titled the Purpose In
The Machine.
Fitz and the team
enlist the aid of an Asgardian to unlock the secrets of the ancient monolith
that swallowed Simmons, and Agent May is at a crossroads in her personal and
professional life.
The probability of
Thor Odinson showing up on Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is nil, so in all likelihood
the Asgardian mentioned will be one of the three featured in previous episodes.
But who?
The best bet would be
Elliot Randolph played by Peter MacNicol. In the series, Randolph was a self-exiled
Asgardian who used his knowledge to gain a position as a University professor.
The other obvious
choice would be Lady Sif played by Jaime Alexander, but it's unlikely that
Alexander is the one returning for a couple of reasons. First, her previous appearances
have always been publicized, and second, Alexander is currently busy starring in
her own show, Blindspot, so I doubt she has time for a guest spot.
The third, last, and
least likely is Elena Satine's Lorelei, but she was imprisoned by Sif and taken
back to a prison in Asgard, so the chances of her having escaped again, and
helping Coulson and his team are nonexistent.
Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
returns September 29.
