Game of Thrones star Maisie Williams is in
talks to star in actress/writer/director Kate Maberly's adaptation of The
Forest of Hands and Teeth, which the filmmaker will produce alongside Doug
Liman (Edge of Tomorrow).
Based on the YA best-seller
by Carrie Ryan, The Forest of Hands and Teeth is set in a post-apocalyptical world
where most of the human race has succumbed to a virus that turned them into
mindless cannibals. In this world lives Mary (Williams), a young girl dreaming of
a place far beyond the fenced-off village she and other survivors call home. One
day everything she knows is thrown into chaos when the fence is breached and
she and handful of survivors must venture into The
Forest of Hands and Teeth in search of safe haven.
"I am so
incredibly excited to be stepping into the ‘Forest’ and collaborating with such
a brilliant creative mind as Doug’s," Maberly said. "We can’t wait to
bring Ryan’s fantastical world to life and are absolutely thrilled to have
Maisie on board."
Maberly's is best
known for her starring roles in such films and TV shows like The Secret Garden, Finding Neverland,
The Booth at the End, Like Minds, and The Last of the Blond Bombshells.
Behind the camera, Maberly
recently made some studio executives turn heads with her short, Charlie's
Supersonic Glider.
