Marvel and DC stars Chris Evans and Jared Leto are
circling roles in Tate Taylor's (Get on Up) upcoming adaptation of Erin
Cressida Wilson's bestselling novel, The Girl on the Train, which already boasts
and impressive cast that includes Emily Blunt, Rebecca Ferguson, and Haley
Bennett in the three leading roles. According to The Wrap, both actors are
eyeing the Tom and Scott roles, the husbands to Ferguson and Bennett's
characters.
However and despite the actors' desire to board the
project, scheduling conflicts may prevent them from doing so. Evans is set to
star in Marc Webb's upcoming drama, Gifted, which he will follow with extensive
press junkets for Captain America: Civil War. Leto on the other hand has
commitments to his band, Thirty Seconds to Mars.
In Girl on the Train, Rachel (Blunt)
takes the same commuter train every morning. Every day she rattles down the
track, flashes past a stretch of cozy suburban homes, and stops at the signal
that allows her to daily watch the same couple breakfasting on their deck.
She’s even started to feel like she knows them. “Jess and Jason,” she calls
them. Their life—as she sees it—is perfect. Not unlike the life she recently
lost.
And then she sees something shocking. It’s only a minute until the train moves on, but it’s enough. Now everything’s changed. Unable to keep it to herself, Rachel offers what she knows to the police, and becomes inextricably entwined in what happens next, as well as in the lives of everyone involved. Has she done more harm than good?
